It was a beautiful 26 degrees Celsius after a light night rain, so there was full freshness in the air and even the birds showed their gratefulness and so am I.
However the wait for the main climb is beginning to make the preparedness more of a routine. It was more fun yesterday though, but I cant put my finger on the why. Maybe am getting used to everything faster than i thought.....just guessing.
Well as part of the day's program my guide did try call her mum to wish her a very happy birthday since the first call did not get through. Lunch time was be perfect she did.
So on our way up we used the old route to the Elbrus through the south face and she showed me the way I was to do my extra bit since they were taking the cable car .
she showed me the way i was to go because they will all take the cable car up to the lower base while I walk all the way. since our next lap was about this level so I think I was trying to familiarize myself with the terrain since our next goal was altitude between 3800 and 4500 meters.
So I got under my belt 7 hours with 2040 meters altitude gained with a distance total of 12.30 km.
I was told this route is quite popular for preparation before departure to base camp. It was really busy with different groups ascending and descending with pride and great expectation.
We had our lunch break near a very beautify waterfall but very cold ( about -10 degrees Celsius) as it was coming from glacier .
As we returned it rained for about 30 minutes it was interesting to have a wash in the rain.
Lastly , the cook was changed today , we have a new cook, so i reserve my findings till tomorrow.
Friends tomorrow is a long day, so I will have to go now.
Cheers all and keep the smile
The waterfalls where we had our lunch
If you climb pass the mountain behind me you are in Georgia
The valley of Terskol
The glacier close to the base camp where we will camp from tomorrow , it used to be the way to the base camp through the south face but now they have new route.
