As I promised here is part of my Journal !

The day began at about  9:00am with breakfast as usual, after which our guide went to secure our  permission to climb from the tourist office. It did not take  long before she came back with the permissions and they rushed off to do some shopping before we  leaving for another civilization.
With a mostly cloudy weather we were  left  with very little visibility which prompted us to  adjust our  plans. In other to avoid the dangers of the wet  rocky  route  we opted for the cable car.

We then took the cable car leaving behind our dear host and cook, a difficult parting I must say.(Life teaches us to move on and  to embrace  the unfolding future). Well contrary to  what I was made  to understand  in Geneva, I got a genuine appreciation from some Russia tourists who were kind enough to ask if they could  make some photos with me. Without any doubt this was  a great experience to counter the generally held views about Russians in race relations. As it turned out they were very  friendly and I could not have asked for anything better than that  from a total stranger. Our journey up  continued in the  cable car until we reached  the second stop where we had to change to another car, with more interesting people up and alive for the climbing experience ahead.

Despite the clouds and rain at 3600 meters altitude I enjoyed every bit of  the  journey up  to the rent experience. The lift chairs were quite different  to the ones in Switzerland. On getting to our destination by car, we had to  off load our bags and took them to the Gara Bashi , where  we spent the next few days

Not  long I was almost a celebrity of some sought, as more and more people wanted to take photos with me......... that was a bit scary even though i enjoyed it.

We had some soup, rested a bit  for like 30 minutes and began our altitude training.Although very difficult when we started due to the wet conditions and poor visibility we  braved it to the upper base camp at 4050 meters altitude with a 450 gain in altitude.Desceending was fun without  the wind and the joy of the team was great.

As soon We got back  we had about 30 minutes break before dinner so we had some time to rest. I met a guy from Munich who had climbed mount Rwenzore  and we started talking about his experience and his travel around Africa it was great because  that kept us busy till the time of dinner.
It was a nice dinner and I enjoyed every bit of it.Some how I have to learn some Russia language quick , as much of the discussions here is in Russia.
There is hope ladies and gentle men .......
I think  i have to go to bed now.

Keep the smile  a nd a big cheers.

off to bed will write again tomorrow
