During that period, I enjoyed the in flight culinary services thanks to the kind air hostesses who made sure that we were not missing out on anything, from food to drinks and the pride and pleasure with which they did their job.
It was a mark for the journey to the top of Europe and I am truly impressed and grateful for the experience.
May I say that communication was in French and Russia languages , and I sure found my french useful at that altitude, but I promise I will bring home some Russia phrases. But for now My french is becoming so useful that I owe my self a new challenge in French language.
On arrival, at Moscow airport, I waited rather longer than necessary for the security checks as it turns out I was the last person to be attended to.That was cool because I spent the time observing the people and meeting the culture first hand.
I was not sure about the Transiting bag system so i went to see if my bag was on the belt, but I was told that it will only come out at my final destination.(So I was confident that the standards are the same contrary to what many people told me before systems in Russia).
So am starting to trust the system here as we get on ......Russians are not any different Ladies and Gentle of the world.
As of this moment , the weather is beautiful, at about 9 degrees, and we are getting ready for the connection to Mineralnye Vody . I have four hours to kill and the airport is quite big and busy too to enjoy even while i try to read some books about Moscow.
I have just noticed that Geneva is two hours behind Moscow, so I am a bit ahead time wise.
I will write again from Mineralnye Vody or in Terskol
The summit is waiting and I am arriving to be there for our cause.
Let us all keep the smile.
Cheers to you all from Moscow Airport
Living Moscow for Mineralnye Vody
Sorry friends I could not write immediately because on arrival in Mineralnye Vody my guide was already there waiting for me at the gate.
The weather was very nice with clear blue skies, though a little bit windy.
I was helped with my bags into the waiting car and off we went to Terskol which was three hour drive.
Traffic was a bit heavy until we approached the country side where driving was relatively calmer. I was quite tired because I did not sleep but it was still exciting to see the scenery.
When we got to Terskol we immediately got lunch and my guide told me to get some rest for 15 minutes.
Soon after my rest we got off for a hike of about 4 hours with an altitude of 600 meters.
On our way through the valley we saw many grazing cattle and I was reminded of the Swiss alps even without the sounding bells.
So light a beginning , but I have good mates here to climb with and we are getting to know one another slowly.
so don,t forget my climbing mates are nice and my guide is super great and patient, the cook is really over feeding me I hope I will not get used to her cooking to fast...great laughs.....
So far the hike today was short but beautiful and am adjusting and acclimatizing well.
Can I say cheers till tomorrow? because am so so tired. I need to go and sleep because tomorrow is a long day.
Cheers to you all and keep the smile.
Alex
