Today will liked to Answer the questions I had been asked more than 100 times

When did you start Hiking, Trekking, Mountaineering/ Alpiniste?
Did you do this before coming to Europe?
Why did you love Mountaineering?
What is special about mountaineering?
Where do you get money to do mountaineering ? because its expensive sports
The list of the question so long but will try to answer a few .

I was reading a book written by Wayne Muller, He said that when we do what we love, we are performing an act of worship.
He also said that we need to ask the four fundamental questions, but many of us wait till something wakes up , and we begin to listen to how things really are in our life.  Perhaps we face a divorce, a change of employment, a move, some inexplicable spiritual experience, a grave illness, the birth of a child, or death of a loved one.
Or perhaps something that used to feed or satisfy us now seems strangely over or complete.  We feel pulled in new direction; one phase of our life journey has ended, and new one is beginning  but we do not know where it will lead us.
So the question is what do we love?
After doing the training to become a Volunteer with the English Speaking Cancer Association in 2007  , I started volunteering as a peer supporter , and some times i go to the office and help where they needed help from volunteers.
In 2008 , it was tuesday 24.06.  when I was in the office after i had finished the work i was assigned to do i started  searching for what i should since my third year anniversary was in few days , one thing is that i had promised to myself will have to do something different and interesting each year , but this particular year i could not travail because my residence visa was still under renewal , and i did not have a lot of money but was willing to do something new and interesting.
So through my search i found out some group going for hiking trip for two days in swiss -italian part , called Saint Bernard , and i shared this with my colleagues and they were like this must be interesting since you have never been in mountain and swiss -italian part .
But the challenge was that will this group accept me?
will i be able to pay for the trip?
do I have all the gears?
Anyway was still interested to try this new adventure so one of my colleague proposed to help me with the difference of the amount i needed to come up with , and i send e-mail to the guy who was organising this trip and asked him if i can join  him?
He wanted to know if i have done some thing like this before which i said no but was ready to try and if i had mountain insurance which i did not , and if i have all the gears needed and i said no but will like to rent if he knows where i can rent them.
Anyway after long talk with him he accepted me in the group and gave me appointment to date and time so that we will all meet before we start our hike , get to know one another.
when we met i was the only one who is from Africa and who had no experience in hike, been to Suisse-Alps the rest had experience and they all have their gears.
But the the guide gave me the list of gears and their price there was no way i can afford them at that point so i decided will only use what i had.
We left for Saint Bernard on 28.06.2008 at 8:30 from Places des Nations , it was nice and sunny day when we got to the mountain where our hike start was taken apart by the view and scenery , i have never seen something like this or experienced it either but was determined to give it my best.
Everything was going well, still we arrived at the summit where it was all covered by snow and my running shoes got wet and was feeling uncomfortable , but i did not wanted to think about it but enjoy my new experience with the mountain, the people i went with were real nice and it was my first time after my treatment to do something serious  and was not sure but i thank God was almost the second fittest to the guide the rest of the guys were having problem after walking more than 6 hours.
when we got to the refuge where were going to spend the night was taken back by seeing Saint Bernard dog which i had never seen so big dog like that before , and the people there explained to us people come from different parts of the world to come and see where their dogs originated from specially those who having Saint Bernard dogs.
The night was so long and so cold for me because it was my first time to sleep in refuse although it was nice the hospice refuge and it has a lot of history.
the following day as we were taking breakfast , i shared my story with my new friends i told them its my birthday today and am three years old and that is when they wanted , more then i told them about my cancer and why i was there with them!
During this period of my life i did not know about meditation but when i was in the mountain i found myself sited alone , if its today will say i was mediating but by then i did know why i did that i just show the photo where i was alone , was wondering what was going on ? but now i can say was mediating and letting the experience , listening to the mountain which i do more often now .
I also promised to myself when my parents come to visit me in Switzerland will make sure they go to Suisse Alps and experience it too. because by then they where meant to be with me  to celebrate my anniversary but the visa procedure delayed and they came bit later and i took them to montreux although it was not high mountain but it there had never been higher than 2000 meters so that was great experience .
Since that time i continued with my new found passion and hobby  and joined different groups every weekend and I also found out if i go with group its cheaper than buying train ticket because we share car costs.
I also bought suisse half price pass which allows me to travail at reduced cost
I also started buying tickets from the marie which is a days pass which is cheaper than my direct from train station
And through friends that i meet during this hikes or climbs they give me tips about where i can buy  my gears cheaper than outdoor stores.
During this trips i met over 1000 people and shared my stories with them and am not sure will have got any other place than this one to share my story.
I have climbed different  mountains and each mountain brings or gives different experiences like Mount Blanc is different from Kilimanjaro .
The mountain makes me appreciate God's creation more and also each time i climb it gives me opportunity to breath the fresh air and thank God that am still here , going strong and through the mountain am able to help others by sharing my experience that gives them hope to face whatever they are going through.
It was help me to raise funds to help others.
